On the peak of the white snow mountains in the East
A white cloud seems to be rising in the sky.
At the instance of beholding it, I remember my teacher
And, pondering over his kindness, faith stirs in me.
Words of “Lama Angrika Govinda”
So what do you do when you reach a location with an objective to capture the bright landscapes and the weather decides to create a very different atmosphere!
After three days of drive, through the remote parts of Arunachal Pradesh, we reached Tawang, the last city before the barren terrains of the Indo-China border. This was the place from where Dalai Lama crossed over to India, after China’s occupation of Tibet in 1957. This is also the place which saw the invasion of China into India in 1962, leading to signing of a 50 year treaty to maintain peace across the border.
The weather was clearly not in our side for photography as the sun seemed to be continuously behind thick, dark clouds. The days in the harsh winter of December barely receive 7 hours of light.
So here I was wondering and then decided to convert the challenge into an opportunity that led to creation of this series focusing on capturing the mood of the terrain between the mist and clouds.
Photographers need to be versatile and look to convert challenges to opportunities.
