During my recent visit to Tawang Monastery, located at 10,000 feet in the district capital of Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, India, I looked for photographing it’s expanse from different perspectives.

This is one of the largest monasteries of Mahayana sect in Asia. It was founded by the Mera Lama Lodre Gyasto in 17 century AD in accordance to the wishes of the 5th Dalai Lama, Nagwang Lobsang Gyatso.
Most of the people living around the monastery are Monpa, Tapka and Tibetians, and all are the followers of Tibetan Buddhism.
When the 14th Dalai Lama fled from Tibet, he crossed into India on 30 March 1959 and spent some days resting at Tawang Monastery.
