Mount Kailash (21,778 feet) is a peak in the Gangdisê Mountains, which are part of the Trans-Himalaya in Tibet. It lies near the source of some of the longest rivers in Asia: the Indus River, the Sutlej River, the Brahmaputra River, and the Karnali River (a tributary of the Ganges River). It is considered a sacred place in five religions: Ayyavazhi, Bön, Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism. In Hinduism, it is considered to be the abode of Lord Shiva and a place of eternal bliss. The mountain lies near Lake Manasarowar and Lake Rakshastal in Tibet.
During my recent visit to Tibet, I spent a night at Darchen (15,100 feet), at the base of this holy mountain.
While moving around the region, I photographed it from different perspectives.

March 9, 2014 at 12:42 AMHi Amardeep,
I was looking for free wallpaper to post it on my fb Cover to say prayers to the MAS airline missing plane and passengers. And was went through a few pages on the google, but came across your stunning absolutely stunning shots.
I thought I would be so very honoured to be able to see it more often and thought if you would mind if i asked permission and credit your name to post it on the fb cover page banner of my account?
I have not been to Mt Kailash but I know it is a very holy mountain. Hopefully one day, i will step foot there. Namaste.
Regards,
Si-Y
