Panorama of Mount Bromo, Indonesia

Mt. Bromo is an active volcano in East Java, Indonesia. It lies within a 16-km wide caldera, known as the Tengger caldera. On the northern tip of the Tengger caldera lies another active volcano, called Sumeru. The Tengger caldera is a large depression in the land, formed through a volcanic activity about 820,000 years ago.

In this large panorama, the large flat land is the Tengger caldera. The volcanic tip in the centre of the frame, from where the smoke is rising, is Mount Bromo. On it’s right lies the Mount Batok. Mount Batok series can be viewed from this link MOUNT BATOK. The Mount Sumeru is not visible in this picture as it lies far behind these mountain ranges.

“All day I think about it, then at night I say it. Where did I come from, and what am I supposed to be doing? I have no idea. My soul is from elsewhere, I’m sure of that, and I intend to end up there.” ~ Rumi
