Zanda Valley and Sutlej River basin, Tibet

A roller coaster ride from Kailash mountain, high above the Indus river plain, we moved towards the Zanda region in the remote western part of Tibet. The snow capped peaks of the Himalayan range, in view at a distance, separated the Tibetian highland from the Indian Subcontinent.

Entering Zanda, the valley through which the river Sutlej flows, the landscape changed dramatically to technicolored. The color of the terrain can’t be described in words but I hope this series of pictures gives you an impression of what we saw.
