Traveling into the remote areas around Capaddocia, we reached Sognali. Last few days of snowfall had frozen the water in pipes, leading to closure of restaurants.

It was a blessing in disguise as we were able to get a local family make some lunch for us. As the two grandmothers at home sat in a corner, watching us inquisitively, I decided to make their portraits.
